Abigail Tetrell, identified as the DECA club president and Region 9 president, presented the DECA "Dare to Care" Community Awareness campaign and described its mission and activities. "The mission statement of the Dare to Care Community Awareness Campaign is it aims to educate students on the effects of bullying along with helping them identify the most common types so they can take appropriate action from there," Tetrell said as she outlined presentations, interactive games and a pledge banner signing.
Tetrell cited program survey data and past competition success to support expansion plans: she said a slide showed that "82% of students said after they did our presentations ... they would stand up for people being bullied," and she summarized planned events including a Central Square Middle School grade-wide presentation on Dec. 9 and elementary presentations on Nov. 14-15. Board members pressed for outcome measures tied to discipline and suggested integrating DECA material into reflection forms and homeroom videos; Tetrell and staff said they would pursue follow-up materials and coordination with school counselors.
