La Villa ISD trustees voted on Sept. 9 to adopt a proposed property tax rate of $1.2781 for the 2024–25 school year. Vice‑President Marianna Reyna moved the adoption, saying, "I MOVE THAT THE PROPERTY TAX RATE BE INCREASED BY THE ADOPTION OF A TAX RATE OF $1.2781, WHICH IS EFFECTIVELY A 23.19 PERCENT INCREASE IN THE TAX RATE." The motion was seconded by Yesenia Morales and carried with all board members present voting in favor.
Superintendent Robert Muñoz also recommended and the board approved a related resolution to set maintenance & operations and debt service tax rates pursuant to the Governor's disaster declarations for severe thunderstorms, large hail and damaging wind. Board members discussed the item as a formal motion and approved it without recorded opposition. The board's roll call at the start of the meeting showed four members present and three absent.
