Stonington board approves 3% increase to village water rates and posts outside‑village changes

After discussion at the May 5 adjourned meeting, the Stonington board approved a 3% increase to water rates for users inside the village limits.
The ordinance language presented shows the base amount moving from $11.65 to $12.00 and the water consumption charge per 1,000 gallons rising from $7.12 to $7.33. A maintenance charge of $13.00 was listed (breakdown: $4.00 water, $4.00 sewer, $5.00 gas). The board moved, seconded and approved the measure by a 6-0 vote.
President Dowdy and Trustee Andrew Callan participated in the discussion leading to the motion. The board also fixed outside‑village rates: the outside minimum rose from $23.29 to $23.99 and each additional 1,000 gallons from $8.57 to $8.83. The motion to raise village water rates was made by Trustee Callan and seconded by Trustee Kuntzman.
