Kaufman ISD officials on Nov. 17 reported that the district received a "passed" status and a "Superior Achievement" rating under the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), the district's Chief of Finance and Operations, Grant Miller, told the board in a public hearing.
"The district's FIRST accountability rating ensures that Texas school districts are accountable not only for student learning but also for achieving these results cost-effectively and efficiently," Miller said. Kaufman ISD's reported rating marks the 23rd consecutive year the district has received the highest possible FIRST status and rating.
The public hearing on the FIRST results opened at 6:15 PM and closed at 6:28 PM. The FIRST rating is the district's financial accountability measure; Miller presented the results to the board during the hearing and summarized district performance and compliance with state reporting requirements.
Board members did not debate the rating during the hearing. The board proceeded to other agenda items after the FIRST results were presented.
