Trustee Melissa Barnes moved to adopt a local policy that would permit authorized school personnel to administer over-the-counter medications to students when parental consent is provided. Trustee Lupe Mancha seconded the motion, and the board approved it unanimously, 4-0.
Board discussion leading up to the vote emphasized establishing local procedures consistent with state guidance; Dr. Darrell Brown said staff will work with the board on implementing details and communications to parents.
