Superintendent Dr. Bonnie Avey introduced the district’s new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Gabe Smallwood at the June 23 meeting. The new head boys basketball coach was not available and will be introduced at the July board meeting. Coach Smallwood provided trustees with lists of coaches’ stipends for middle and high school.
On motion and second, trustees approved coaches’ stipends and district stipends. The board also approved the 2026–2027 Athletic Extra Duty Stipends with stated exclusions (the head football coach, individual co‑ed sports, team sports, and middle school) and adopted a revised stipend schedule that specifies amounts for several positions including: Science secondary non‑tested $2,000; English secondary non‑tested $5,000; Math secondary non‑tested $2,000; elimination of the secondary non‑tested Social Studies stipend; Band Director $10,000; Assistant Band Director/Sponsor $5,000; Life Skills teacher $6,000; Life Skills Behavior Teaching Assistant $4,000; English secondary tested $6,000; Math secondary tested $6,000.
