The board voted March 23 to accept the Certification of Unopposed Candidates and adopt an order canceling the May 2, 2026 Board of Trustees election, declaring the certified unopposed candidates elected. John Modica, chief operations officer, recommended the action consistent with Texas Election Code §§ 2.052–2.053; the minutes note that by law (and Senate Bill 1 effective Dec. 2, 2021) the governing body must cancel the election upon proper certification.
The recorded motion reads: "It was MOVED by Mark Tucker and SECONDED by Ginger Collier to approve to accept the Certification of Unopposed Candidates; adopt the order canceling the May 2, 2026 election, and declare the unopposed candidates elected." The motion passed 7–0.
