Chazy board sets $14,388,000 proposed budget, $5.86M tax levy ahead of May 20 vote

The Board of Education of the Chazy Union Free School District on April 8 established a proposed 2025–26 budget of $14,388,000 and approved a tax levy of $5,859,307 to be presented to district voters at the Annual Meeting and Budget Vote on May 20, 2025. Board member Chris Demers moved to set the budget and Lee Barcomb seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
In adopting resolutions to place propositions on the May ballot, the board also directed the District Clerk to advertise the full text of each proposition. The board approved Budget Proposition No. 1 (the $14,388,000 expenditure authorization) and Proposition No. 2, which would raise up to $38,000 by tax levy to support the Chazy Public Library. Board members voted unanimously on the set of resolutions.
The board will meet again for a budget hearing on May 13, 2025 at 7:00 PM; the budget vote is scheduled May 20, 2025, 7:00 AM–8:00 PM with the board meeting to follow. The proposed budget is the figure the board will present to voters; any changes would follow legal notice and subsequent board action.
