Cleveland County commissioners appoint Tammy Richards as interim treasurer effective Sept. 1

The Cleveland County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on Aug. 25 to appoint Tammy Richards to fill the unexpired term of Cleveland County Treasurer, effective Sept. 1, 2025. Commissioner Rod Cleveland moved, and Commissioner Rusty Grissom seconded, "to appoint Tammy Richards as the successor to fill the unexpired term of office of the Cleveland County Treasurer, effective September 1st, 2025." The motion carried with all three commissioners voting yes.
The appointment followed a closed executive session under 25 O.S. §307(B)(1) to discuss filling the vacancy. After reconvening in open session at 1:08 P.M., Commissioner Cleveland emphasized the fairness of the selection process and said interviews were not intended to reflect negatively on Richards’ qualifications. Commissioners reiterated that the appointment fills the office until voters select a candidate in the next election. The Board adjourned at 1:13 P.M.
