Leon ISD board approves proposed tax rates, schedules Aug. 25 budget hearing

The Leon Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Aug. 7 to approve proposed tax rates for the 2025–26 school year and to schedule a final budget hearing.
Bryan Rohrer moved to approve a maintenance and operations tax rate of 0.6449; James Carlisle moved to approve the interest and sinking tax rate of 0.1100. Both motions were seconded and passed 6-0 with Trustee Jeff Ahearn noted as absent.
Trustee James Carlisle also moved to set Aug. 25, 2025, as the date to adopt the 2025–2026 budget and tax rate, with a public hearing beginning at 6:00 p.m. and the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m.; Rusty Moore seconded and the motion passed 6-0. The hearing will give the public an opportunity to comment before the board takes a final vote on the budget and tax rates.
