La Porte ISD board recognizes student artists, All-State football selections and Lady Dawgs' run to state final four

The La Porte Independent School District Board of Trustees recognized multiple student achievements March 17, 2026. Seven student artists from La Porte High School, La Porte Junior High, Lomax Junior High, Heritage Elementary, and Rizzuto Elementary earned top honors at the 2026 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Show; the minutes note three Best of Show awards and four Gold Medal recognitions and that the students' work will be featured in the Hayloft Gallery at NRG Arena.
The board also recognized four La Porte High School football players who were named to the Padilla Poll Coaches 2025 5A Division I All-State Team and honored the La Porte Lady Dawgs Girls Basketball Team, led by Coach Elisha Thompson, for reaching the state final four following a thirty-win season.
