Cole Martin, identifying himself as a Town of Seneca Falls employee and president of the Civil Service Employees Association local, spoke during public comment on Nov. 6 about staff treatment, pay disparities and communication failures.
Martin said the water and sewer supervisor had been absent for months despite receiving a 7% raise, questioned why some outside contractors were paid more and described employees as being "mistreated by you daily." He also said employees were not given appropriate notice or assistance around changes to health-insurance enrollment and that he and others had arranged an additional meeting for staff to protect their coverage options. "We are all about yourselves," he told the board, criticizing leadership for perceived unfair treatment of long-time employees.
Martin asked the board to consider raises for specific staff and to address apparent staffing and process problems; his remarks did not result in immediate personnel action during the meeting.
