Neighbors urge town to review Lower Lake Road permits after residents say new house exceeds approved height

At the privilege of the floor several residents raised sustained objections to a new house under construction on Lower Lake Road. Kim Galick told the board the structure appears to be three stories when the local code allows 2.5 stories without a variance; she said the house had been approved on a special‑use permit for a very small lot and that nearby homeowners fear similar development will change the character of the street. “It is 3 stories high,” Galick said, describing blocked views and privacy impacts for neighbors.
Other residents pressed the board to confirm whether variances were properly granted and whether the as‑built structure matches the drawings that were approved by the planning and zoning boards. One resident asked the town to obtain the drawings used for the permits and to compare them with the building under construction; the town attorney said the board will have the attorney review the matter and follow up. Concerns included potential drainage and runoff impacts where the new house sits up the slope toward taxed neighboring foundations.
