Denise Wist told the board that past summer programming was supported by federal COVID relief funds that have since expired, meaning the district cannot assume those funds when drafting the 2025–26 budget. "All along the idea was to have the summer program as long as the covid funds were available," Wist said, explaining why the program is not currently in the proposed budget.
Board members discussed alternatives, including whether to allocate general fund dollars or seek other funding sources. The meeting record shows Mrs. Davidson plans to run the summer meal program; the board also discussed whether to continue a late bus for students, but no funding decision to restore or expand the summer program was adopted at this meeting.
