Clifton highway superintendent outlines paving schedule and winter readiness

The Town of Clifton's Highway Superintendent reported operations and upcoming work during the Sept. 10 meeting. The community center lawn project is complete and parts for the wood boiler have been ordered; the primary heat source for the building is wood. The department ordered 220 tons of salt to mix with sand for winter road treatments and repaired a clogged culvert on Riverside Drive.
Paving is scheduled at the end of the month for multiple roads: Marshall Avenue, LaPlante Road, Leonard Drive, First Street, Sunny Lake Road, Osbourn Drive, Joy Street and Overlook Avenue. The department also addressed building safety needs—fire extinguishers must be in every building—and arranged to rent a lift to remove Hometown Heroes signs and coordinate removal of Clifton flags and banners.
Board members discussed contacting a local contractor to inspect the community center furnace as part of a county safety-assessment follow-up.
