Lubbock ISD administrators presented proposed employee health insurance adjustments to the Finance/Operations Committee on June 18, saying "there would be no change to the employee-only Basic HMO premium," meaning roughly 38% of plan members would see no impact. Administrators also reported "the district contribution would increase to $482 per employee per month," a change the district framed as part of maintaining competitive, lower-cost plan options.
Administrators compared the Basic HMO to plans offered by neighboring districts and TRS ActiveCare and stressed continued nonpremium benefits such as wellness programs, zero-copay clinics and diabetes management services. Trustees and administrators discussed employee confusion about prescription routing (including some specialty and 90-day medications handled through CVS) and agreed on earlier, expanded outreach and informational sessions prior to open enrollment to help staff compare options and understand pharmacy requirements.
