Claverack board sets hearing on barn conversion for one-bedroom farmworker apartment

Jessica Riley told the Planning Board she intends to convert part of an existing barn at 91 Courts Lane into a one-bedroom accessory apartment to house a farmworker who would help care for 7–12 horses. Riley said the property currently has three septic systems — one for the main residence, one for a three-bedroom modular unit and one serving the barn — and provided a letter from engineer Pat Prendergast confirming the barn’s septic design.
Chairman Tim Wyman and board members asked Riley to supply an updated single-site plan that clearly shows the apartment layout, utilities, septic and well locations; Rob Fitzsimmons indicated an updated plan could be used to set a public hearing. The board accepted the application contingent on those updated maps and set the public hearing for June 15, 2026.
