Lone Oak ISD board invokes budget exception, declines immediate school-bus seat-belt retrofit under SB 546

Trustees recorded the retrofit cost as nearly $350,000 and invoked the budget-based exception under Texas Transportation Code 547.701(e); the motion passed 7–0.
The board’s minutes state the Superintendent will submit the report required by Texas Transportation Code 547.701(e)(f) to the Texas Education Agency and that Lone Oak ISD "will continue to work on scheduling seat replacement to be in full compliance by September 1, 2029, as required by law." The motion was made by Clint Patterson and seconded by Orville Gentry. The board did not record additional public comment on the item during the meeting.
