Llano ISD board adopts resolution to pay employees for non-made-up weather closure days

The Llano ISD Board of Trustees voted Feb. 23 to adopt a resolution authorizing payment to employees for days missed during unusually inclement weather when the district closed schools and will not require make‑up days.
Cody Fly moved to approve the resolution and Grant Morgan seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The written resolution directs the superintendent to pay "all employees for a regular duty day pursuant to Llano ISD Board Policy for the unexpected closure of the District due to bad weather," and states the board "determines that these payments serve a public purpose."
The resolution, included in the meeting attachments, lists the board’s rationale including morale, reduction of employee turnover and minimizing exposure to unemployment or Fair Labor Standards Act claims. It also instructs that nonexempt employees required to work during an emergency closing be paid at the premium rate described in district policy DEA(LOCAL).
