New trustees sworn in; board elects officers following May 2 canvass

The Llano ISD Board of Trustees on May 12 canvassed and declared the results of the May 2, 2026 trustee election and administered oaths to two newly elected trustees. Rob Wilson moved to declare the canvass; the motion carried unanimously with six yeas (Fly, Hull, Kuykendall, Morgan, Tisdale, Wilson).
Notary Kristi Downey administered the oath of office to John David (JD) Baker (Place 3) and Christopher Carrell (Place 4), who will each serve three-year terms. The meeting packet also notes Michelle Chance, elected May 2, will be sworn in at a later date; a separate oath form in the packet shows her oath dated May 29, 2026.
Following the swearing-in, the board reorganized under Policy BDAA(Legal). Grant Morgan moved and JD Baker seconded the slate of officers: Jeff Kuykendall as board president, Rob Wilson as vice president and Paul Hull as secretary. The motion passed unanimously. The board also appointed Kristi Downey as Secretary to the Board.
The board scheduled a budget workshop and regular meeting for June 22, 2026. The reorganizational steps complete the post-election transition and assign the district’s officer roles for the coming year.
