The Mabank Independent School District Board of Trustees formally reorganized its leadership at a May 18 meeting, swearing in unopposed trustees and approving officer nominations.
Evelyn Carter, administrative assistant to the superintendent, administered the Oath of Office to Erik Tijerina (Place 4) and Todd Grimes (Place 5). Superintendent Dr. Russell Marshall then opened nominations: Secretary Robby Teague nominated Todd Grimes for board president, and Trustee Dustin Conner seconded the motion. The board approved the nomination by acclamation; the record shows a 6–0 vote in favor of Grimes as president. The board subsequently elected Erik Tijerina as vice president and Robby Teague as secretary by unanimous votes of those voting on nominations.
The leadership changes are procedural and place existing trustees in the board’s officer roles for the coming term. No contested races were recorded for the two seats sworn in May 18. The meeting proceeded to closed session and later resumed open session for the evening’s remaining business.
