County legislator: county adopted jail-enforcement model under Section 287G; Office for the Aging expands home-delivery

St. Lawrence County Legislator Larry Denesha told the Town of Clifton board the county recently passed a resolution adopting the Jail Enforcement Model under Section 287G of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and he said there is "a lot of misinformation" about 287G and how its three models operate. He summarized the three options as task-force, warrant, and jail-enforcement models and said the county chose the third model, which gives county access to immigration and customs databases.
Denesha also reported that the county Office for the Aging passed a resolution authorizing an expansion of its home-delivery program. The remarks were given during the board's public-comment and correspondence portion of the Feb. 11 meeting; no town-level action on 287G was recorded.
