The Town of Clifton board approved seasonal beach staffing during its June 11 meeting, voting to hire two new lifeguard applicants and retain three returning lifeguards. The motion was made by Council Member William Griffin and seconded by Brett Blackmer; the minutes record the vote as "Ayes = 4, Noes = 0, motion carried."
The board also thanked volunteers for maintenance at the Clifton Community Beach: Halsey Bagg repaired the lifeguard chair and Deb Roberts repainted it. A beach permit has been filed and five lifeguards are now on staff for the season.
