During the communications portion of the Feb. 23 meeting, the board received a series of informational updates: Katie Ratliff presented the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program report; campus principals Cristina Vazquez-Strawn and Amanda Epsztein-Navarro provided targeted improvement plan updates for Alma Brewer Strawn and Navarro elementary schools; Todd McBride and Ty Davidson reviewed the district achievement dashboard; CFO Nicole Weiser gave a 2025–26 budget update; and Purchasing Director Tanya Homann reviewed a bid release for elementary gym flooring. Director Adam Miller presented the midyear staff climate survey and later presented districtwide intruder detection audit findings.
These items were presented for information and the minutes record no open-session board action on them. The board did adjourn into closed session to discuss the intruder detection audit and superintendent performance goals under Texas Government Code sections 551.072, 551.074 and 551.076; the closed session began at 9:13 p.m. and ended at 10:54 p.m. The minutes state no votes or actions were taken while in closed session. After returning to open session the board approved the superintendent’s performance goals by a 7-0 vote.
