Lindsay ISD reports enrollment, construction progress and athletics results

District leaders provided routine administrative reports at the Dec. 17 board meeting covering enrollment, attendance, construction and extracurriculars.
Elementary Principal Tawni Smith reported elementary enrollment at 297 and an attendance rate of 97.47 percent; secondary enrollment was reported at 237, with attendance down slightly because of a stomach bug. Cope and Smith highlighted competitive successes: junior high UIL dominated its district meet and three students will represent Lindsay ISD at the State Student Congress in January. Athletic Director Casey Jones said football finished the season in the Regional Finals and basketball season is underway.
Superintendent Steve Cope also updated trustees on construction: interior painting and texturing are in progress, the west side is receiving EIFS coating, and the south side EIFS is complete along with work on an old gym wall where electricity meters to portables were located. Technology Director James Moats said intercom bid awards were made and Nortex won the phone‑system bid. Transportation Director Tom Huston reported lights are being installed at the bus parking lot and no major transportation issues at present.
The reports were informational; no substantive policy changes were made during the meeting.
