Board approves wage payments for staff during Jan. ice storm and to seek TEA waiver for missed minutes

Lindsay ISD trustees voted unanimously to approve a resolution allowing the district to pay staff for days lost during the Jan. 26–30 ice storm when road conditions were unsafe.
Superintendent Steve Cope explained the resolution and also requested authority to apply for a one-day bad-weather waiver from the Texas Education Agency because the district is 22 minutes short of the state-required 75,600 instructional minutes after five storm-related closure days. The board approved both the wage-payment resolution and authorization to seek the waiver by 7–0 votes.
Mr. Cope told the board that if the waiver is not granted the district will add time to the school day to make up the 22 minutes. The minutes record no dissent and no public comments on the matter.
