Lindsay ISD board cancels May trustee election after candidates certified unopposed

The Lindsay Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Feb. 25 to accept certification of unopposed trustee candidates and cancel the May 2, 2026 election, thereby declaring those candidates elected.
Superintendent Steve Cope presented the certification to the board. Kelly Dunn moved to approve the certification and Corey Anderle seconded; the motion passed unanimously, 7–0. Board minutes record the action under the order of cancellation presented that evening.
The action spares the district the administrative costs of a May election and finalizes the seats for the board cycle. No public comments were recorded. The board made the procedural approval during its regular meeting in the high school library.
