City begins Unified Development Ordinance project, plans public engagement and testing

Peachtree City staff and consultant Sarah Sinatra outlined a project to create a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that will consolidate and clarify decades of development code. Sinatra said the UDO will: reconcile conflicting definitions scattered across chapters, create an updated zoning map, produce visuals and tables to improve public understanding, and include project testing using representative development applications.
Sinatra said the consultant team—planners, landscape architects and urban designers—will propose community-wide engagement, including an open house planned for September and meetings with a UDO committee in August. "We're also gonna look at uses... are there uses that we should amend," Sinatra said, and described a draft website, interactive map, and timeline to gather public input. Council supported returning the draft branding and engagement materials to staff for refinement and directed inclusion of planning commission and UDO committee input.
