Assistant city manager/director of public works Jonathan Miller explained the action would start design work only (concept, 30%, 70% milestones) and enable use of ARC phase‑1 funding and county SPLOST funds to advance right-of-way acquisition. "Until we put a design firm in place, we can't utilize those funds," Miller said.
Council discussed aesthetic consistency with existing Peachtree City bridges and the project's multi-year timeline; the motion to approve the award carried on a voice vote. Staff emphasized conceptual-level plans will return for review and that construction funding will follow design and additional phases.
