Medina ISD board convenes special meeting, holds brief closed session

Vice President Brad Zirkel called the Medina Independent School District Board of Trustees special meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. and confirmed that notice had been posted under the Texas Open Meetings Act. "Vice President, Brad Zirkel called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. and ordered that the record show that a quorum of board members was present," the minutes state.
Secretary David Derry gave the invocation. The board adjourned into closed session at 7:01 a.m. under Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.074 and returned to open session at 7:05 a.m. The minutes record that President Andy Lautzenheiser adjourned the closed session and called the meeting back into open session. The meeting concluded with formal votes, including a 6-0 approval to hire Barbara Fudge as district nurse, and adjourned at 7:06 a.m.
The minutes list Vice President Brad Zirkel, Secretary David Derry, Thad Emmons, Brian Hill, AJ Stern and Thomas Wickham as present; President Andy Lautzenheiser was listed as absent. Superintendent Lindsey Kunz was noted among those also present in the record.
