Kim Johnston, Director of Curriculum, told the Board the district will discontinue its Pre-K3 program for the 2026–27 school year. The change is intended to permit two sections of Pre-K4 at nearly every campus; Spring Valley was identified as the exception that will not have two Pre-K4 sections.
Johnston presented the early childhood update as part of the information items. Trustees received the report; the minutes do not record a separate vote on the Pre-K3 discontinuation or detail transition supports for families currently enrolled in Pre-K3.
The change reflects a district staffing and programming decision for the coming year and will require administrative follow-up to notify affected families and adjust campus schedules.
