Midlothian ISD recognizes student and staff achievements across arts, athletics and service
Summary
At its April 20 meeting, the board recognized multiple student and staff accomplishments: one-act plays advancing to regionals, state qualifiers in golf, tennis and robotics, a national championship for Walnut Grove Middle School drill team, VASE recipients, and districtwide Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase designation for all campuses.
The board used its recognition agenda to highlight wide-ranging student and staff accomplishments. Notable recognitions included Walnut Grove Middle School Diamonds winning a national middle-school dance championship and the Best of the Best designation; Heritage High School robotics qualifying for state competitions and receiving awards for Gracious Professionalism and Safety; multiple UIL state qualifiers in golf, mixed doubles tennis, powerlifting, and regional playoff runs in soccer and girls basketball; and five Visual Arts Scholastic Event recipients.
Superintendent Dr. David Belding also noted that all 14 MISD campuses have been named Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase Campuses and that the district is a National Showcase District. The board formally recognized Mentor's Care volunteer Jessica Ward as Mentor's Care Volunteer of the Year.
