The Mercedes ISD Board authorized the administration April 21 to solicit proposals for School Health and Related Services (SHARS) billing and to provide the required 60‑day notice to the current vendor whose contract automatically renews.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Alicia Noyola said the district has used the same SHARS provider for about 15 years and wants to test the market to pursue opportunities for cost savings and improved services. Trustee Rachel Trevino moved for authorization and Trustee Oscar Hernandez seconded; the motion passed unanimously (5–0). The administration is authorized to publish the RFP and to notify the current vendor per contract terms.
