MWPISD Board swears in newly elected trustees and unanimously elects officers

At a June 1 special meeting, Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD trustees Beau Harris, Anthony Calvo and Armando Flores were administered the Oath of Office; the board then elected Dr. Josh Swarb as president, Armando Flores as vice president, Nancy Upchurch as secretary and Roy Porras as alternate secretary (all 6-0).
The Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD Board of Trustees convened a special meeting June 1, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. to administer oaths to newly elected trustees and to elect board officers for the coming term. Board Secretary Nancy Upchurch called the meeting to order and confirmed a quorum.
Notary Jamie Bailey administered the constitutional Oath of Office and the statement of elected officers was signed by the newly elected trustees: Beau Harris (District 1), Anthony Calvo (District 3) and Armando Flores (District 5). The oath and signing were recorded as part of the organizational duties required after an election.
The board then moved to elect officers. Nancy Upchurch moved, and Roy Porras seconded, the nomination of Dr. Josh Swarb as board president; the motion passed unanimously, with the vote recorded as Yea: 6, Nay: 0. Subsequent nominations — Armando Flores for vice-president, Nancy Upchurch for secretary and Roy Porras for alternate secretary — were each moved and seconded by board members and likewise passed by a 6-0 vote. Minutes record the roll-call votes for each motion.
Superintendent Dr. Stacy Parker and Board Secretary Nancy Upchurch recognized visiting administrators, faculty, family members and community attendees during recognitions; Janet Cranfill of the Monahans News was listed among those in attendance. No members of the public addressed the board during the public comment period.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:44 p.m. after a motion by Armando Flores, seconded by Roy Porras, which passed unanimously.
