Council approved a set of street-lane and public-ground closures and noise-variance requests for the City of Davenport and Downtown Davenport Partnership 'Red, White & Boom' event at LeClaire Park, with fireworks expected around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026. Alderman Jobgen read the specific closures and times and asked for public comment; none was offered. The motion to place the items on the consent agenda passed after a roll call on an amendment.
Staff notified council the same day that Lieutenant Shorten requested an additional closure on Pershing Avenue from River Drive to 2nd Street; council approved an on-the-floor amendment to add that closure by roll call (10–0) before placing the items on the consent agenda. "Staff received, earlier today...Lieutenant Shorten had notified us that they have asked...that there be an additional road closing, from Pershing at Pershing Avenue from River Drive to 2nd Street," a staff member said while proposing the amendment. The RWB permits and variances were then moved to consent.
