Public comment at the start of the Nov. 12 meeting included two items the board did not act on immediately: a suggestion to form a community committee for the town’s 250‑year anniversary and a plea to preserve the town’s fund balance.
D. Roberts asked, "She inquired if the town has any intention to celebrate the 250-year anniversary. Would there be interest in starting a community committee to schedule events." Later, L. Denesha criticized the proposal to use $5 million of the fund balance in the preliminary 2026 budget and cited county SNAP numbers to argue for saving reserves.
The board did not reject either suggestion in the minutes; the anniversary idea was recorded as public comment and the budget was adopted separately. The minutes show the board may revisit community events and fund-balance policy in future meetings.
