At the Aug. 13 meeting, Board President Matt Travis emphasized that Merkel ISD’s Strategic Plan priorities should guide discussions and decisions about capital projects and other district actions.
The priorities the board listed in the minutes are: efficient district and campus operations; exceptional student performance; faculty and staff recruitment, retention and capacity-building; and student and stakeholder engagement and satisfaction. Trustees referenced those priorities during discussion of a consultant’s cost analysis for a proposed bond and related project details.
The minutes do not record extended discussion about changing or amending the Strategic Plan; the plan was cited as a guiding framework in considering the bond-related materials presented by the consultant.
