Merkel ISD hires one teacher, approves bond counsel engagement and records bond order

The Merkel ISD Board of Trustees approved employment for Abbey Womble on a one'year, 10'month probationary contract for the 2025'26 school year. Trustee Gabby Campbell moved the employment approval; Angela Head seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Trustees also approved an engagement agreement for bond counsel with Walsh Gallegos Trevino Kyle & Robinson, P.C. and Cantu Harden Montoya LLP and recorded an order calling a bond election for the district. The minutes state there was "no discussion" regarding the bond election at this meeting; the engagement and order were recorded by motion and carried unanimously.
