Administration told the board that district staff capacity is insufficient to meet current demand for school psychology and educational diagnostic services and recommended contracting with multiple vendors to fill that gap.
"services were needed due to not having enough in our district to cover the needs therefore our district would have to contract out for those services," Dr. Alicia Noyola said when explaining the recommendation. The district reported it would award to the top four vendors based on scores and prior successful work in the community. Ms. Rachel Trevino moved to approve the awards and Mr. Orlando Rodriguez seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous vote.
Special-education director Denise Rivas explained the emphasis on selecting firms with prior local experience to ensure familiarity with Mercedes ISD processes and systems.
