Advisory group promotes 'hot spots' fixes; asks public works to sweep Milano Road path before century ride

Members described the "hot spots" program, an effort adapted from county practice to identify and prioritize small, low-cost safety fixes such as repainting markings, removing debris, or sweeping shoulders. The chair said the program allows community eyes on practical issues that improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists without large capital spending.

A member requested that public works sweep sand and gravel from the Milano Road bike path ahead of the Pioneer Century ride, noting that debris and large rocks force riders into higher-speed traffic near the bridge. Bruce Parker said he filed a complaint on the county form and asked staff to copy committee members; members also agreed to remind public works to prioritize the sweep before Friday.
