Resident urges Pickens County to consider alternatives to DCCM and raises road-safety concerns
Summary
Chad Martin urged commissioners to consider firms other than DCCM based on past resurfacing work he described as wasteful and raised safety concerns (missing stop bars, edge drop-offs and insufficient barrel protection) that he said require more inspection and oversight from the county.

Chad Martin told the board he had concerns about past resurfacing work performed under DCCM and urged commissioners to consider a different firm for future projects, saying local taxpayers need more value. "I've been dealing with them in the past resurfacing project... There's a lot of wasted tax dollars," Martin said.
Martin also raised specific road-safety complaints, saying some locations lacked stop bars, had irregular edge conditions and needed barrels or other protections. The chair thanked Martin for the comment; staff did not record a formal board directive in response at the meeting. The comment was recorded for the public record and referred to staff for potential follow-up or inspection.
