Mount Vernon ISD sets public hearing on 2024–25 budget after board approves proposed tax rate

Craig Craver, the district’s director of finance, presented the proposed budget to the board during a budget workshop. Following the presentation, Board President Leigh Anne Ramsay moved to approve the proposed tax rate for further consideration; the motion passed unanimously, 6-0. The board formally set the public hearing to allow public review and comment before final adoption.
The action moves the district from budget review into a formal public-comment period required under state law and local policy. The board’s vote to advance the rate does not finalize the tax rate; the hearing on Aug. 26 will provide a final opportunity for public input and for trustees to adopt a rate.
