The Board opened its May 21 meeting with recognitions of student and staff achievements across the district.
Students recognized included McMichael Middle School MathCounts State Qualifiers Ryder Lackey and Benjamin Serna, and Nacogdoches High School state track qualifiers including State High Jump Champion Micah Lockett and hurdles qualifier Braylon Horton. The district also recognized NHS CTE Welding Team state qualifiers: Israel Hernandez, Gavin Stott, Christian Bach, Erick Leon, Bryan Rodriguez and Lilly Nelson.
Employee recognitions included Teacher Incentive Allotment designees (a list of names is recorded in the minutes) and awards to Reagan Hollomon as District Teacher of the Year for 2025–2026 and several campus Teachers of the Year across district campuses.
