Nacogdoches ISD Board unanimously certifies May 2 trustee election results

The Nacogdoches Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously May 12 to certify the May 2, 2026 board election results. President Farshid Niroumand read the canvass of returns showing Leabeth Abt winning District 2 with 81 votes (unopposed), Demond Jackson winning District 3 with 89 votes (unopposed), and the At‑Large race returning Farshid Niroumand with 930 votes to Mike Dunn’s 96.
Rev. James Ervin moved "I move to approve the Canvass Results and Certify the Announced Election Returns as True and Correct for the May 2, 2026, Board of Trustees Election," a motion seconded by Leabeth Abt; the board recorded a unanimous 7–0 vote to approve the certification. The minutes show the board followed the posting requirements of the Texas Open Meetings Act before taking the action.
The board also recorded that Denise Ochoa, Notary Public, administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected trustees immediately after certification. Certificates of Election were signed by President Niroumand and newly elected trustees completed their Statements of Elected/Appointed Officer, as reflected in the meeting record.
