Board approves $1.31 million renovation of MFHS cooling towers

The Marble Falls Independent School District Board on April 20 approved a $1,310,562 contract with Trane U.S. Inc. to renovate four cooling towers serving Marble Falls High School. Eric Humiston told the board the towers were originally installed in 2009 and that the work will replace key components and repair deterioration in the north towers.
Board members approved the expenditure from the Bond Deferred Maintenance Budget by motion of Kevin Virdell, seconded by Larry Berkman; the vote was unanimous. The district described the work as necessary to maintain the campus HVAC system and extend equipment life, addressing issues that have emerged since initial installation in 2009.
The motion and approval were recorded in the meeting minutes; the project will proceed under district procurement procedures and funded from the approved bond maintenance allocation.
