School committee appoints Loretta Braverman as director of special education

The Whitman-Hanson Regional School District school committee unanimously approved the appointment of Loretta Braverman as director of special education and student services after a brief introduction and a remote roll-call vote.

Superintendent Dr. Marcus said the district interviewed multiple candidates and offered Braverman the post, citing her experience in other districts and her student-centered approach. "Here's a person who has tremendous experience in different districts, understands special education in a really wonderful way, and has a really warm, kind way about her," Dr. Marcus said, adding that the hiring team found her the clear choice.

Braverman introduced herself to the committee and to residents on the call, saying she had already met ESY staff and some students and looked forward to connecting informally with families. "I'm very grateful to be part of the Whitman Hansen Regional School District," she said.

The committee moved and seconded the appointment and conducted a remote roll call. Every member present voted yes, and the appointment was approved. The superintendent and committee members offered brief thanks and invited Braverman to forthcoming community events to meet families.

The appointment takes immediate effect as recorded at the meeting; committee members did not record any conditions or amendments to the appointment on the public record.
