Ore City ISD board sets goal to raise elementary rating after 2024–25 results

The Ore City Independent School District Board of Trustees heard administrators report the district's 2024'25 accountability ratings and approved a set of short-term interventions aimed at improving elementary performance.
Administrators reported that the district's 2024'25 ratings were: High School 91 (A); Middle School 77 (C); Elementary 64 (D); district overall 78 (C). The board identified elementary outcomes as a top priority and set a target to grow the elementary campus ten points this year, from 64 to 74. "The goal is to grow 10 points this year from a 64 to a 74," administrators told the board during the superintendent's report.
Elementary staff described schedule and instructional changes intended to increase learning time and targeted intervention. Mrs. Mizell said the elementary master schedule was adjusted to add a 35-minute morning window for IXL practice and that a dyslexia class was added. The district is also creating a dedicated data room and a data wall in the conference room to track student progress.
Baseline assessments are being administered now, with administrators planning to present initial results to trustees in September and monthly thereafter to show progress. District staff said they are partnering with middle-school personnel on an "engage to learn" approach and will share more-detailed assessment data in upcoming board meetings.
The report was delivered during the Superintendent's Report portion of the agenda; no formal action was required beyond accepting the update.
