Ore City ISD reports mixed STAAR results, 42 students enrolled in summer school

The Ore City Independent School District board received a superintendent’s departmental report June 15 that described mixed student performance on the most recent STAAR assessments and ongoing summer programs. District administrators said there was growth in several subjects compared with last year, but that 7th‑grade math scores “were not good,” and the district will focus on attendance and growth across grade levels. Elementary summer school enrollment was reported at 42 students.
Administrators described summer offerings primarily as credit recovery at the high school and said participation has declined weekly. Maintenance staff reported several facilities projects in progress: two classrooms will receive new flooring, the elementary gym is being painted, termites were treated, and the high school gym HVAC repair is complete. Rachel Evers provided a roster of new employees to the board. The transportation report was noted as submitted on May 29, 2026, and staff said the district has had no reportable collisions this year to date.
