The Pleasant View Planning Commission voted to conditionally approve a site-plan amendment for Wasatch Custom Cabinets, 3145 North Highway 89, after staff urged the commission to wait for missing stormwater calculations and confirmation of an access permit from the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).
A staff member told the commission that engineering had not received required stormwater calculations and that UDOT directed the applicant to reduce the driveway access to a maximum of 50 feet, which could change the frontage and affect detention design. "Staff recommendation would be to table it for those site appointment[s] or site plan adjustments and corrections to be made," the staff member said. The commission discussed whether to open the public hearing now or postpone; commissioners emphasized keeping the business moving while also protecting the city's technical standards.
Applicant BJ Wyatt, identified as the business owner for Wasatch Custom Cabinets, said the company has operated at the site for decades and is working with engineers and UDOT to resolve the outstanding items. "No. It's just definitely, we've been in business for 40 years," Wyatt said, adding the company is willing to coordinate with UDOT and the city to make the project compliant. The commission's motion requires that missing stormwater permits and UDOT access approvals be resolved and that revised engineering plans be accepted before any permits are issued. Staff will not issue permits until the conditions are met.
