North Lamar ISD board adopts two resolutions on prayer policy and public information act nonbusiness days

On Feb. 9 the North Lamar ISD board approved a resolution declining to adopt a policy for a period of prayer and Bible reading and a separate resolution designating nonbusiness days under the Texas Public Information Act; both passed 7–0.
During its Feb. 9 regular meeting the North Lamar ISD Board of Trustees approved two separate resolutions presented by Kelli Stewart. The first resolution declined to adopt a policy relating to a period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text. Trustee Lauren Woodard moved to approve the resolution and President Russell Jackson seconded; the board recorded a 7–0 vote in favor.
The second resolution designated nonbusiness days under the Texas Public Information Act. Trustee Sheila Daughtrey moved to approve and Trustee Stephen "Red" Holmes seconded; the board again approved both the motion and the roll-call vote 7–0. The minutes do not record public comment on either resolution.
